First Things First!

When you first message me, I'd love to know if you've owned Australian Shepherds in the past or if you currently have any. If you haven't, we should chat to ensure that this is the right breed for you. I'm more than happy to answer questions about Australian Shepherd puppies, even if you're not purchasing one from me. I got my first dog when I was a kid and have been a fan ever since. You can reach me at 760-207-3401.

Please note, I DO NOT SHIP DOGS! I prefer that the Wiggle Butts stay here in Southern California if possible. If you live within driving distance, it's best to call me to discuss the possibility of making a puppy reservation for an Australian Shepherd from here. Also, I can share recommendations for Bil-Jac dog food to ensure your new puppy gets the best start.

Reserving Puppies

Australian Shepherd puppies are sold with LIMITED AKC registration, meaning there are NO BREEDING RIGHTS. These puppies are intended to be beautiful, loving family pets and/or ranch dogs.

To secure your puppy reservation, I ask for a $100 FULLY REFUNDABLE deposit. It takes just a few minutes for me to process a deposit via Venmo or PayPal, which are popular payment methods among puppy buyers. Those on the waitlist receive the first choice of puppies. I give priority to previous buyers, moving them to the top of the waitlist based on the order of their initial contact. It's heartwarming to see many people reaching out to me for a second Aussie about a year or two after getting their first one!

We schedule pickup for your puppy after they are 8+ weeks old, ensuring all dewormings are current, first vaccinations are complete, they are comfortably eating dry food, and have firm stools. I want the Australian Shepherd puppies to be SUPER ready for the big transition to their new home, with new people, new water, and sometimes a long car ride involved.

Hold Deposit status when posted on the website:

Hold Deposit Pending - Waiting for the deposit to arrive.

Reserved - Hold Deposit has been paid

Sold - Puppy is paid for in full and has been picked up

More Notes:

We accept the $100 refundable deposits through cash-type apps, while the balance must be paid in cash at pickup. If the Australian Shepherd puppy is under 8 weeks old when you reserve it, we can arrange for you to mail a check in advance. Please ensure checks are received, deposited, and cleared before the pickup date if you choose this option.

Raising Aussies is my hobby, and I breed them for my enjoyment, with just 1-2 litters per year. I 100% own all the parents of the puppies, and all puppies are born here at THE MEAD RANCH in San Diego, California. Puppies are sold with LIMITED AKC registration, ensuring that they have NO BREEDING RIGHTS and are perfect as loving family pets or ranch dogs.

Pick Up Puppy Day

The day you are coming to pick up your Australian Shepherd puppy, DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT visit other breeders' homes, doggie daycare facilities, pet stores with puppies, dog shelters, dog parks, or any place with young dogs. WHY? You risk infecting your new puppy with a contagious illness. Yes, the first shots help, but they don't provide 100% protection until they have had ALL shots and boosters. Please don't bring illness to my ranch :( I'm very protective of my puppies until they have received their first shots. It's a good idea to bring a crate (unless you have someone to hold them on the way home), a towel or blanket, and paper towels in case they get car sick during the trip. I will provide you with a bag of Bil-Jac dog food for your new puppy. Remember, they are just babies. Stress from being picked up frequently or a car ride can cause them to toss their cookies :) Don't panic if this happens, but do monitor them to ensure they have improved within 12 hours. And if you haven't done so yet, please make sure to complete your puppy reservation in advance.

Bil-Jac 30/20 Performance Dry Dog Food

We use Bil-Jac 30/20 Performance Dry Dog Food for our Australian Shepherd puppies. I prefer that the puppies reserved here are free-fed on Bil-Jac. Please don't let your vet or a local pet food store persuade you into trying another brand, as their motivations often revolve around profit. My priority is ensuring happy, healthy dogs. I want my puppies to be free-fed Bil-Jac so they can grow and reach their full potential. In addition to Bil-Jac, we also feed the dogs fresh-cooked chicken and some other treats.

Make sure to get the right Bil-Jac 30/20 Performance Dry Dog Food. Choosing the wrong kind may lead to a puppy with a tummy ache; for instance, a small-breed puppy formula can be too rich and might upset your puppy’s stomach.

You can find Bil-Jac 30/20 Formula Dog Food at Tractor Supply HERE.

Contacting Kimberly

I’m very, very busy here, working from sunup until I pass out. This ranch is my home, and raising Australian Shepherd puppies is my passion. Please be patient while I get back to you; animal care, especially for our puppies and making sure they’re well-fed with Bil-Jac dog food, is my top priority. If you're interested, don't forget about the puppy reservation process!

Just an FYI if you are shopping for Wiggle Butts

Gone are the days of visiting someone's home to choose from a litter of Australian Shepherd puppies. While this may still occur in some places, generally, people now reserve a specific puppy and come to pick up their chosen pet at a scheduled date and time. This approach is much safer, as it minimizes the number of people handling the puppies. Young Australian Shepherd puppies don't have the robust immune systems of adult dogs. The initial set of vaccinations helps but doesn't guarantee 100% protection from highly contagious illnesses. I prioritize the health of our puppies above people's desires and feelings in the bigger picture. It's nothing personal when I explain that no visits are allowed; I simply want to keep our puppies clean and safe. For their growth and health, we also recommend using Bil-Jac dog food once they’re ready to eat solid food.

Blue Eyes

MOST Australian Shepherd puppies do not keep blue eyes as they grow. Keep this in mind while looking for a dog and considering a puppy reservation. It's advisable not to pay a breeder extra for blue eyes because there is a good chance they will turn to brown (Black and Blue Dogs) or amber (Red Dogs) as the dog matures. Additionally, when raising your puppy, consider feeding them Bil-Jac dog food for optimal health.
